    Heavy Hay Bales

I'm curious to know why, this year of all years, the bales seem to be extremely heavy - I've seen ads for bales in the 1700 to 1900 lb range. This seems a little heavy to me, but I'm sure there is a logical explanation for the weights being so high.

It seems to me that you would need some fairly hefty equipment to be able to handle bales of this size.

If the baler is not too old that should be right my JD 510 last year put out alfalfa/grass hay bales at 1215 lb average. And that was with the springs at middle belt tension. This yr I have a JD 530 & am hoping my green feed to weigh 1800 lbs/bale
