Anyone worried about increased insect pressure this year with the mild winter?

I heard a radio interview with a crop consultant saying something about more bugs this year because of the lack of extended cold temperatures.

Anyone hear about this?

Yes certain parts of Alberta are poised for hoppers if spring is dry. Even last year with all the rain the populations were disconcertingly high.

We have had enough cold weather "here" I
believe. We have had two one week
stretches of -30s, and are currently in
what is seeming to be a 3 or 4 day -30s
stretch...

In other areas with little snow, even
though it has been warmer, it takes less
cold than is typical to freeze the bugs,
so I feel there will be fairly usual
insect dieoffs this winter.
