Linola/Oilseed Acreage in 2002

I am doing my work to prepare for my oilseed outlook at Grain World 2002. Any help you can give me on oilseed acres this spring/factors that will influence your decision would be appreciated (canola, flaxseed, mustard).

I am also wanting to include a couple of sentences on linola. Has anyone grown it this past year? What have prices been in absolute terms and relative to canola/flaxseed? Has anyone from Agricore United approached you with a 2002/03 program?

Any other interesting oilseed opportunites - eg. other solins (edible oil flaxseeds, mustard with canola oil properties, sunflower, safflower) etc. that should be addressed?

Not planning to seed oilseeds this year because of very dry conditions in east central Alberta. Inputs are just too high when drought is again a very real possibility. Nothing very exciting to date about canola export markets either. A very wet spring may cause me to seed a small acreage to keep up my rotations.
