Vertical Tillage????

Is anyone using VT. If so, what machine, results? How deep, light 2-3' mid 6-8'? We are looking at doing our pea stb in the fall. We have heavy clay soil and are looking to loosen soil, chop pea stb and blacken the soil to increase temps in spring to reduce frost damage and breakdown pea stb quicker.

We rented a Salford RTS last fall to do some pea
stubble ahead of seeding winter wheat. Did an
excellent job and never would have been able to
get through the wet pea vines with the seeder. Also
did a little winter wheat stubble to see what it
would do. One note it did stimulate a lot of weed
growth on the winter wheat stubble as the seed bed
remains firm but you have some soil movement.
The rolling baskets did a great levelling job. Not
sure what depth we ran but wasn't that deep. At 9
MPH you can cover ground quickly.

We tried out the RTS as well two falls ago, very impressed. But hard to justify the big price tag for 1500ac of pea stb. If we could rent one for the fall it would be great, but no dealer near us. Trying to convince a couple close neighours to go together topurchace - not much luck. There are some good used units in the Northern U.S. might be our only option for an RTS.
Seen anouther VT machine on you tube that looks very impresive, one can change the angle on the go. A company(Mandko?sp?) in Manitoba just bought them out and will be producing them shortly. It can do bolth, straight VT and tandem disc by changing the angle of the cutting blades. Hopeing to try this one this fall - wider range of options for use. We also need a tandem disc for wet areas.

Got the name of that VT tillage machine - TillTech Twister. Mandako is the name of the company who bought them out.
