The math on that is frightning!

Western Canada just doesn't have the heat units to hit
those kinds of yields on soybeans, maybe a long way
in the future but these yields must be coming from
places with over 3000 heat units. In southern
Manitoba we are at 2500 at Winnipeg to 2700 at
Morden as an average. Sask is quite a bit lower in
General.

Went up to see a fellow in Leduc who had the world record for wheat. 230 bushels per acre! Wanted to learn his secrets.

Well heard his talk , then had a beer(or six) with him after, and learned alot, but not much helpful...

He used a modified drill that was interesting, but notilled, conventional tilled, and plowed as necessary. He broadcast fertlizer on the surface, and incorporated. Nothing special. He burned the straw if necessary.

He farms in New Zealand, and has virtually endless frost free days. That, and the soil type, help alot. He said I actually grew more grain per day than he did. LOL.

They have european varieties of winter wheat we can't get and he uses a growth regulator out of China we can't use.

The key for him, and here I guess, is to keep that plant green and healthy as long as possible. He said every day he could keep that wheat crop going, he gained 4 bpa. He used fungicides and growth regulators to do that.
He got about $7 per bushel and wheat was his most profitable crop. What a world we live in.
