Farmer Yield Data...Post Your Field Scale Variety Yields Here.

We want to assemble the best canola variety yield data available so we thought we would try to get you to provide some of the actual field scale (40acres or more) yield results.

Put down the canola variety, yield, location, any agronomic info and comments.

We will try to assemble them here but post in Commodity Discussion and link it to here.

    Thanks,

    Joe Dales

Very Short we thought this was a wreck but very tight dense podding zone we were surprised.

We also grew some Dekalb that did not perform as well but would attribute part to poor field conditions.

Overall, I Can't say any Variety was heads and shoulders better than another because conditions were so difficult.

I know swathing the Invigor was nice because it was short vs the H-28, but we were also nervous about the wind blowing it away due to poor stubble to push the swath into.

In 2011 we plan on Growing PHB H-29 on our dirty fields and Inv 5440(get back to a little taller plant) on the rest.

        D3152 - 26
        Canterra 1950 - 28

        215lbs/ac 30-10-0-8 dry side band.

Planted into good moisture at 4.8lbs/ac on 10 inch centres, emergence in three days. The next five weeks were wet, 20" .

Sprayed twice with Polaris at 1/2L/ac, no fungicide. 1.8gal of 28-0-0 was applied as a foliar at 10% bloom to promote flowering (Possibly 2bu yield gain for a couple dollars and acre).

Trials were about 10ac, 4 passes over the mile on hilly land with poor subsoil. Once it was said and done there was just over 42" of rain. Fall soil test shows zero N and very little sulfur all the way down to 24". Less than ideal conditions but shows the Pioneer and Canterra Hi-breds are close. OP canola on ajoining fields with similar treatment yielded 4bu/ac less.
