    fire

had a stubble fire today - don't even know how it started, just potentially a spark. Luckily no property damage other than 10-15 ac of wheat but very nervewracking especially since there are acreages starting about 400 yards away.

It's been dry here since, well, last fall and over 30 degrees today (a record).

Just a reminder to make sure your extinguishers are where they're supposed to be and a reminder for me to beef up our safety efforts.

Allot of newer John Deeres (9760's and 70's) have been having problems with the rotors around Davidson.
something about straw wrapping around the front of the rotor on pushing it back so that the chaff and dust cannot fall through. Which causes friction and fire right under the back of rotor
We had the rotor replaced and they have been filling some grooves of others with bondo trying to fix the problem.
If you have any questions Western sales in Davidson did the repairs.

We have a big double disk that we park at the side of the field we are working on just in case.

2188 and 2388 can do the same thing. On drier years we spread out tractor discer/rollers across the area as a community in case the need arises.
