His actual quote in respect to where the US government can reduce wasteful or outdated spending was:

"An obvious example, Obama said, were reports of crop subsidies to farmers who make more than $2.5 million per year."

He didn't say "millionaire Ag Business". Your statement implies he is going after grain companies - not that he shouldn't - but it would appear affluent American farmers are certainly front and center in his sights.

I'm curious as to how Obama would, in practice, restrict subsidies in this manner.

Could not a large farm simply subdivide itself into smaller entities, each of which would then fall under the cut-off threshold for farm aid?

An ole farmer once told me that he figured that if the gov. had to subsidize a farmer, they should figure out how much "cost of living" is, and only give up to that amount. That way you couldn't "farm the system' and you wouldn't expand if not economical.
          Kinda wonder sometimes?????

Better yet check this one out.

Riceland Foods Inc. made a total of
554,343,039 dollars in direct subsidy payments from 1995 to 2006. Riceland seems to me to be a cooperative processing, selling, marketting operation for 9000 farmers.

I disagree, he will put his foot down harder on the accelerator than anyone we've seen in a long time.

Does Scotie Pipin realy need an Ag Subsidy paymaent? Et all, many other multi-mills in it for just subsidy payments? Come on give your head a shake! These payments were given to business with a 'net' income of $2.5 mill or greater. There in lies the reason, or part of, for the massive financial troubles in the U.S.
I hope that Obama wipes them out. Then we can do the same here.
