    Friends of the CWB

I have been thinking of this for a while. How can 12 "farmers" hold up the whole marketing of barley. I know prices are good, but analysts are saying prices could be better if this inquiry was not hanging over the markets head. Can. buck has something to do with it, corn markets are down from the highs of a couple of weeks ago. But how can 12 farmers out of 50000? hold everybody to ransom. I was hoping the plebiscite would put things to rest, but instead it raised all kinds of questions about legality and fairness, and how can you combine option#2 and #3 together. Farmers take all the risk and spend their own money on inputs, million Dollars worth of equipment, but we are not smart enough to market our own wheat and barley without pooling, controlled by the federal government. I know, I know, the Wheat Board is controlled by 10 elected farmers, but why do they have to run to the feds every time they want to raise the price we get for wheat and barley. Sorry for rambling, but it is p-----g me off. If I want to market my own grain, I shouldn't have to ask 12 farmers if that is okay.

Come on Kryger, it's not the "Canadian Way" to allow you to make your own decisions in life. The nanny state will take care of you, your family, your property, and your ideals. Once a federal institution, department, or program is started it is just the way it should be and they will decide how much you should receive for your production.

It is more important to make everyone play on the same playing field than letting some succeed or fail by their own free will.

Who else is going to protect you from you? (intended to be read as sarcasm)

I hear you. A lot of opportunity right now and we have been unable to get the canadian wheat market to position itself for best benefit.

Improve the opportunities and allow people to choose for themselves seems to be fair to me.

I don't know what these people seem to be so afraid about.

It is the Canadian way to seek legal redress if you believe there has been an illegal action taken by a political party. It is not the Canadian way to use illegal actions to change laws.

If the law can be changed, it's not illegal.

If a democratically elected government can be prevented from changing the law with the support of 62% of those affected, then there is something wrong with the system.

Are you talking about the CWB, or just any government agency, Burburt.

I guess it all depends what your definition of due process is.

Why is it OK to interfere with DUE PROCESS to undermine a democratic vote?

I think we all knew that if the vote did not go the right way, the left would challenge it in a court of law. They are the only ones allowed to change laws by order in counsel.

Feeling depressed? Maybe overworked in the summer heat?

Pop a Vi-agri-ville, the little blue community centre, and the market can only go up - way up - and sustained for hours, maybe even for days. It is only a click away, except for lifer, a clunk away.
