Who lobbied for the rollover change?

Just curious who lobbied for the rollover change to nieces and nephews. It was just whispers a year ago and boom it's done.

Meanwhile the LCGE doesn't change which is stupid. Given todays cost of living if a family says that's it - we are done and wants to enjoy life and maybe help the kids that are not interested in farming , the tax man will still take his cut.

I see the benefit of adding nieces and nephews since some never get a chance otherwise, but this should have come with the same exemptions as other businesses are being provided in the budget.

The proposed expansion is a welcome measure that MNP has continually advocated for our clients over the last number of years and reflects the succession realities facing many farm and fishing businesses. The expansion of these rules to include nieces and nephews will help these businesses attract and transition to the next generation while preserving capital in the business, helping to ensure their ongoing viability.

A larger lifetime capital gains exemption would help more farmers than this measure. And why does MNP decide this for the government? Seems odd when you compare to the $55 billion Trump has handed to ranchers and farmers over the past year, while thinking this change is productive.

Trumps handouts have affected our grain prices downward. While an accounting firm thinks a numbers game is the solution.

Whoa, I just pasted something from a report.
I have no idea who else was calling for this. Definitely don't know who "decided". I should've blanked out the company.
          Still a good idea no?
