    imports

Does anyone find it odd that cattlemen are being hit financially with this Mercosur trade deal and cattle imports .

This is going to lower the price of cattle and slow the rebuild process as well as discourage young guys to have cattle.

Meanwhile on the grain side Canada can't buy phosphorus from other countries than the USA to lower a grain famers cost. What is worse is there could be phosphate mines in Canada but governments halt the development.

Seems odd that beef can be imported from South American countries but phos can't come from Morocco .

ANd those darn politicians that get farmer's vote and election $$$$$ donations do SFA.

Carnage' trade negotiations are only theatre of the absurd to keep the elbozos convinced that canuckistan can continue to exist without the US. Other countries only talk to us in order to see what they might be able to get from from us. The Harper government worked on 36 trade deals but still nobody buys from us except the US. Of course the last priority of the canuckistani government is the poor canucks who still do actual work.

The phosphorus thing has me a bit preplexed. There are at least two big deposits in Quebec that I have seen on the news, and three more in BC. All the exploratory companies only talk about supplying phosphate for battery production. I assume that's because batteries are the sexy hype product that brings in the venture capital. But with a market for boring ol' fertilizer running at $1500+ per tonne, you'd think they'd be able to spread their VC cash net a little wider than a few battery bandwagoners.
