Anyone look at their fields from satellite through the season?

(Moved from another board as I think it fits better here).

I made a free page where you type in a legal land description (like NE 12-30-24 W4) and see that quarter from satellite, every clear day from May to October.

You get a picture for each pass on a slider, how green the field was each time, a colour map that shows the spots that fell behind, and the rain since May at the closest weather station.

No sign up. It's at grainposition.com/field-from-space/?ref=agv-field

In Alberta and Manitoba it finds the quarter from the province's survey map. Saskatchewan doesn't make theirs public, so there it can be off by a few hundred metres. If it is, tap the middle of your field on the picture and it moves.

It shows how green it looked from up there, not why. The satellite can't see through cloud, so some weeks are missing. And a hazy or smoky day can make a field look worse than it was, so don't put much stock in one low reading.

Wondering if it matches what you saw on your own fields this year. If a quarter shows up in the wrong place, post it and I'll take a look.?

Holy cow ruslang, you are are an endless source of farm related tools.

Have any of them been getting any traction? I am assuming AI has been doing the bulk of the coding, but how much manual clean-up is required to make it work without being buggy.
Why did you decide to take on creating these kind of tools? Do you also create non-agricultural ones.

Thanks! Some of them, yes. The field from space one has done the best by far. Over a hundred people have looked up a quarter since the weekend.

Yes, AI does most of the coding, but a lot of the work is still mine. I decide what to build and how it should work for a farmer, then check what it made, test it, clean it up, and sometimes throw a piece out and redo it. Every tool has a lot of end to end and unit tests that have to pass before anything goes live, and I still find things only when someone uses it for real. Last weekend someone signed up from the field page and their quarter didn't come along into the app. I fixed that the same night.

Why farm tools: I want to make things that actually help farmers, so the tools are free to use, no sign-up. I'm also building GrainPosition, a farm management app for grain farms (crop plan, contracts and deliveries, settlements, bins, fields, field work, profit and loss by field, equipment), and the tools are part of that. No non-farm ones, farming keeps me busy enough.

If there's something you keep doing by hand or on paper that a tool could do, please post it here.

Thanks, glad it's useful. Any ideas for a tool, let me know.
