Second-to-Last Crop Report – Harvest Complete
We finished up on Tuesday. It was a solid run overall, though we had to dry a good portion of the 2026 crop. It never really got overly dry in the field—one for the history books for sure.
We could have wrapped it up Monday, but Pro Soil brought dinner out to the field, so we figured we might as well finish the extra day.
Overall I’m happy with the results this year. Seeding stretched from mid-May right through to June 5th. June was wet—really wet—with only about three decent spray days. July turned up the heat and high humidity, then delivered exactly 40 days with no rain. The end of the season cooled off and September stayed wet; we seemed to only harvest on Saturdays and Sundays. October came in cooler and frosty/damp. From the forecasts, November looks like the official end of the season.
That’s the year in review.
Crop Report
Most in our area should be finished before Friday. I’m thinking we’re now around 95% harvest complete.
Fall work is underway everywhere. More lights out last night on harrows and high-speed equipment.
A lot of guys aren’t buying land right now—the prices are just insane. Instead they’re focused on making sure the ground they already have produces: landscaping, bush work, and reclaiming areas that didn’t get seeded.
Can someone explain this to me like I’m two? How do you make money paying well over $150 an acre plus taxes for poor ground?
Costs for everything in 2027 are going to be insane.
Yield results next week.
