Rain this year vs normal, by town

Pulled the May to end of Sept rain totals for a bunch of towns and compared each to its own weather station's average for the same months. Most places came in well above normal:

    Saskatoon 173%
    Lethbridge 170%
    Brandon 155%
    Regina 145%
    Kindersley 141%
    Yorkton 130%
    Swift Current 110%
    Portage 90%
    Calgary 86%
    Altona 73%
That's one station per town though, and storms hit some fields and miss the next ones. Does that match what you got?

Would also be interesting to see weekly graphs of those locations to give a real snapshot
Some areas ended up way above normal but had near zero in all July

I tried Lamont AB a town not far from my location and it showed rainfall of 624 mm, which, given what we received here, was accurate. I could not find a location with more rainfall, which explains why our crops were completely drowned out. Only oats in this region performed well as they are like rice. Yields on other crop were generally pathetic.

Thats great idea, thank you! I've added week by week chart, each week against that station's usual rain for the same week. Table now has a little strip per town so you can compare them side by side

Nearest town to farm says 177mm, below average, and I suspect I actually got only half of that at my place.

Our closest town shows 405mm which is prob accurate , however we are 17 miles from there and we had 100 mm more than that. Thanks for the info

that's rough, under 100 mm would be tough on anything.

and you got 100 mm more than your station. Between the two of you it shows how far off one station can be from what actually falls on your place.??

Red Deer at 122% of normal, sounds like a good growing season. Our precip was close to that.
Except in our case, almost all of that 122% came in 2 events in June. Nothing in May, and almost nothing after June.

We've had oats drown out, that was back in the 8 year stretch of water and mud and the farm survived on Crop Insurance alone.
