    Combine thoughts

As harvest 2026 moves along I am curious how satisfied everyone is with their combine. Dependability, performance, parts availability, any desire to change.
We presently run a Case Ih 8230 and 9240. We have had the 8230 for 6 harvests and the 9240 for 2. Overall dependability has been good. We have put a similar number of hours on the 8230 as we did our previous NH CR9070. We had problems with the cleaning shoe fan and the sieve box on the 9070, was very happy when it left the yard. Parts availability has been good. Servicing in the morning is relatively quick except that the 9240 engine compartment collects far more dust on any given day than the 8230 and takes longer to blow out. Surprisingly fuel consumption is similar, time of fuel tank filling in the morning shows little difference.
Anyway curious on combine thoughts. Certainly interested in those who have went to bigger combines like a X9 or CR11 and how going to fewer larger combines has worked out. Enjoy the day.

We run 8230s , have been good to us so far.Still have a late model 2388, havent used it in three years. Fired it up yesterday to finish our wheat that we left. Much better in the wet ground as its only half the weight.Should finish tomm.

S690, ZERO issues this harvest. Air filter never needed cleaning even with ROTTEN canola dust. Engine always clean on Deeres, totally covered. Yes all are heavy, but need to be to work.

Had the opportunity to run both the X9 1100 , new 2027 model and the CR11 over weekend.
both 50 ft heads in standing canola
JD tech is very very impressive, but at the end of the day the CR is simply more productive long story short
Bith very impressive in their own ways . Both very expensive, out of our price range for new for sure
We run NH 9.9’s and they have been very very reliable and consistent.
Will consider a move up in a year or two if there is a reasonable deal on used

I think most of the newer machines are decent , mostly depends on how the operator in the seat is able to understand how they work
a good operator can run any colour efficiently and productively

Its actually amazing that these beasts with thousands of moving parts, shaking and bumping along all day trying to rip apart massive lumps, can
coast through over 1000 acres each and only stop for cleaning dust outta air cleaners, a few minor adjustments, and not much of anything else. Really is a miracle. Maybe it has something to do with good maintenance- Just Sayin
