Friday Crop Report on a Thursday middle of July!

Canola running out of gas here. Bottom pods are a couple inches longer than the width of my hand. Above that is a different story. Blanks to short. Still forming so let’s hope it gets better. Looked across the road and nothing for pods. Seeded same time. Different variety maybe.

My guess is that your diverse low salt fertility program at least gave your canola a chance .
Seen that here the past 4-5 years, canola went from very decent to 1/2 a crop in less than 10 days starting the end of June . It’s disappointing to watch
this year , with actual moisture in July it all looks decent for now. It is interesting to see what canola fields have recovered better than others from the July 10 th storm .

Canola is a surprising plant. First picture is the morning of July 10 after we had a hail storm go through. 2.5 inches of rain with the hail. Second picture is yesterday. Pioneer P524G.

It’s recovering, hopefully get to 1/2 the crop it should have been .

I have always said Canola is like a weed. It wants to keep growing no matter what it faces.

The map of rain tells the story. Massive yields are gone and left the building. Its still an ok crop with potential if a open fall and a rain here or there. But the 60 plus are gone with south getting 30 plus for days and even the wind isnt our friend the last two days. Today is a cool down and you can tell some hurt was done.

In my travels crops are real good. Huge durum and canola crop looming. Don’t see much damage .. yet.
Lentils and chicks are good in spots and not so good in some.
My travels aren’t extensive but what I’ve seen is big.

30 plus took yield.

Flooded shit yields nothing.

It's a average to below.

23.7 is now 19.2 acres.

So a 49.6 bpa across the board at 19.2 acres would give 21.6 mt we are empty now a crop like that would leave us running on fumes next year.

Yes the south has a crop but this weekends heat won't gain bushels.

Some very big canola in a strip from just north of here south for a fair ways .
definitely not good in many areas east and west of that line in general
Agree canola crop in general will struggle to be above 45 bus ave in western Canada on reduced acres from intended that was reported.

Three weeks since we have seen rain, canola is coming out of flower quick. Cracks 2" wide in places looks like its gojng to be an early harvest.
