Surely there is a micronutrient package that can save soaked Lentils, isn’t there? Just give them food from the top. Just add it in with the 5 passes of fungicide needed to get them to harvest. Farming is easy. The more you spend, the more you make.

But seriously, I don’t feel sorry for anyone who has overpaid to rent or purchase land and is now looking at poor crops. Maybe simmer down a bit. The high cost of production we have right now is because guys keep paying more and more for land, fertilizer, seed, equipment, snake oil, etc. Nice to see that maybe a correction is near.

Should be lots of equipment at auction to choose from next 12 months. Land market seems to have a lot of listings too for summer. Seems unusual to me. Maybe landlords will sober up and take lower rents instead of trying to raise them.

The farms with the lowest debt levels will shine straight ahead.

Yellow pea prices have went down which I can’t figure out. Excessive rain and peas just don’t work.

You would think they would offer some “limited tonnage” premiums to get some old crop out of the bin. Can’t see anyone selling any old crop with the situation out there.
My speculation is there is lots of old crop being carried in.

A sad state in this industry, a rotational crop to cut down on expensive fertilizer but no point growing it. The local hog feed mill used to buy them but have had no bid on them for a couple years now. I sold my last peas last spring just before the price dropped to its current dismal level and don’t think I’ll be growing them again.

When Cargill quit buying peas the market soured big time. Has been dismal since.
