I needed some blend to finish off my canola last week. Urea was about $1270 a tonne. Gouging at its finest.

That price is still 9 percent higher than what we bought for last year and we didn't get in on the lowest price a couple weeks previous last year because our former csr couldn't be bothered to tell us the price was out
Urea may go lower if the weekly Iran deal actually happens this time or next time or the week after that.

Considering the too wet acres in western Canada , there may be some fertilizer still sitting in farmers bins for another year.

Cool weather, shitty grain prices. late seeding all plays into next year's demand.

Lucky for me , I cant store fertilizer to pay for $50000 dollar in & out augers . I bite the bullet and pay to load the trucks once from the retailer. Try to book a good price for using his facility in the spring. Usually fresh with little screening.

For sure price gouging going on. When areas that are done seeding have 46-0-0 available at $800 per tonne and areas still seeding charging over $1300 per tonne ? What a sick joke.

No doubt they gouged, market correcting hard. Here's how I see it market panicked with hormuz shut down, but the supply chain for spring planting was already stocked. So the panic was unjustified and the market got it wrong. Now here we are 105 days in to Hormuz being shut (or mostly shut) some Chinese and Russian ships are getting through supposedly. The market is pricing in a Hormuz deal and reopening any day. Im highly skeptical of 38 times a charm and a deal will be reached. If I were a betting man I would say the market expectation is dead wrong again, I anticipate no deal and attacks will escalate significantly into July. So therefore even though the bottom may not be in just yet, we may be looking a gift horse in the mouth at these levels. From estimates I have heard the strategic petroleum reserve may have just days to at best few weeks left until effectively drained. And even if a deal is reached tomorrow, the fallout and knock on effects are still inbound. The market appears to be ignoring the problem as we head into the busiest driving season of year, but the consequences of shutting in urea, oil, sulphuric acid, helium....through the most important corridor in the world, though delayed will be very real. They don't ring a bell at market tops nor bottoms, but im filling the tanks and then some.
