With our reassessment last year plus mill rate increase our RM taxes went up 80% on the municipal portion year over year.

I made some calls and asked if anyone could run a friggin calculator?

They have 24 million in the bank. It wouldn't have happened if I was still there.

That seems to be an excessive prudent reserve.
        Depends on the operating budget?

That's what I said when I got on. Mill rate was the same for 15 years. Kept it there because most of our gravel came from a large pit that was going to run out.

When I came on no outside gravel was bought. Used between 60 and 80,000 yds a year. I said let's buy atleast some to stretch the stockpile and to not go from buying none to buying 80,000.

Apparently they bought 5 years worth to lock in a good price. Again I said that is what you use the cash in the bank for.

I was on council 6 years and did the budget for 5 years through 2 reassessment periods and was able to replace equipment but not raise the levy.

            Then this happens.
