Friday Crop Report on a Thursday first days of June.

I have helped seed 49 crops this year. But only had skin in the game for 37. Between University and then working off farm (taking all my holidays to work on the farm).

My brother is retiring next fall. It will be something like helped with 54 crops and had skin in the game for 50 for him.

Quite an accomplishment.

Looks like wild weather in East Sask. again today.We just get wind, lots of tree damage , neigbours flat bottom bin blew out of the field into the ditch.About a dozen still seeding here, most on their last field or two.Lots of new drill problems, both red and white brands, mostly electrical i was told.

bought my 1st quarter in 1978... mostly bush 60 acres of land that hadn't been farmed for years. hired a guy to break it, a d7 and d8 and jd 4wd on rome disc. cost $5000 to break 100 acres. hands bled from picking roots all summer. university profs all saying land will never drop in price food will always go up because global cooling will severely curtail food production. well, early 80's hit and interest rates jumped. my highest rate was %16.5. Land dropped in values and didn't recover till 2010s. oh and cold frozen planet turned into a burning hot planet. the last years are reminiscent of the 70's good prices and good yields lots of enthusiasm in ag. looking back it was remarkable how fast everything went to crap. Don't worry guys this time its different.

A shower just hit i hope the rain fast is fast on some land to the west i sprayed but since its a shower probably missed.

The yard just had 1/4 inch and it seemed like the sun was shining while it rained. Tonight could get interesting. Total on all 5 weather stations is a .75 to 1.25 this week.

Just like a lawn sprinkler.

Just hope the hose don't brake and flood the fields.

Sister in Minitonas says there power is back on there side of town there house is on higher ground and ok. Hard to get out of town with all the washouts and overland flooding.

Had a great opportunity yesterday to Demo a new Horsch sprayer.
133 ft , 2200 gal , 5 active nozzle set up on 10 in spacing , no electric pulsing .
Once we learned how the system works and tried different options as we were spraying I was extremely impressed.
The boom system unlike any other on market , the flex system is amazing to watch
we ran it as low as 10 inches off the ground
did several test strips at different nozzle selections and droplet sizes . It was a whole new way to think about spraying , coverage and productivity.
This sprayer will be a game changer

It selects its own nozzle set up on the go and can do 3-25 gal per ac without changing tips
here it was 8.5 gal / ac running a twin fan and a flat fan at the same time

That’s a qrt an hour at 10mph. Bto here run two agrifac and love them.

Looks fantastic. Whether 8 dollar wheat will pay for is an open question. Does a tech come with it?
