Like it or not we will always live next door to an elephant.
Now, obviously nothing lasts forever.
But I am engrossed by the ability of their Constitution to survive and reinvent.
Signed by men who owned slaves stating "all men are created equal" knowing full well that it (slavery) was a necessary compromise for it's time. Franklin's speech to the assembled recognizing compromise for all present enabled it's signing.
John Adams signed the Sedition Act in 1798 jailing newspapermen who criticized. Hamilton wanted it stronger. He founded their federal monetary system and was later killed in a duel. A similar act was signed in 1918.
In 1856 a southern Dem Senator nearly beat a northern Rep Senator to death right on the floor with his cane.
The political machine post Civil War until the First War was quite corrupt and bloody. News then was owned by the elite as much or more than it is now.

Can't say the same for our prime ministers. Four weren't born here. Think I disliked the first Trudeau almost as much as Trump personally and the second Trudeau was despicable beyond dislike. Crap, Trump isn't even our doing.
Turn your energies towards our own shitshow regardless of who's in charge. PP and Carney are both shiny suits and the bloodsucking NDP and Bloc are always in the shadows. Thinking our own Prime Ministers Office has more power than the POTUS.
