Wow, the brass monkey is looking for his balls. Wow, it's cold today but no wind. Reminds me of when I was in high school, it would be shut down, so a buddy and I would take the sleds to the creek and have a great day of sledding.
Brandon Ag Days was great lots to see.
One common theme this year is that no crops make a profit so we're farming for nothing. Fert up every day this week.
Ag Canada's decision to close research and cut jobs is a bad thing. Liberals may cut the 19 billion to consultants or foreign aid. Best wheat varieties come out of some of these places and once they are gone its going to be the same as ****ing canola, shit once they get established but we pay.
Canola up a few pennies. China git to dump 49000 EV cars we get a pinky swear they will buy. Liberals are useless at negotiations but our media makes them seem like rock stars.
Big AG BTOs I think are having a really tough time, or investors have had enough? Land sales, etc. Realignment. I'm guessing massive multiple deals will be done. Manitoba now has one Deere dealer.
One common thread is that all the Big Dogs use the Scotia Bank now. There is a nice big branch in the Cayman Islands.
Again you ask why did I come home? Well my mom is in her 90s, flights are easy to get here from Orlando to Minneapolis. But also a land deal at home for some dirt I farmed years ago then seeded last year on a one year deal. It sold for $700,000.00 to the new owner enjoy I know it was a phenomenal Canola crop but that was a lucky lucky thing. It did help my net worth increase so thanks.
The other larger land sale still hasn't changed hands after 40-plus days.
Funeral on Saturday of a great guy who delivered propane to our farm.
Ah it's cold let's have a drink.
Hot Buttered Rum
This is like drinking a boozy, spiced cookie in liquid form—rich, buttery, and deeply warming. It’s a classic winter warmer that feels luxurious for a Friday treat.
Simple recipe (1 serving):
• 2 oz dark rum (Jamaican or spiced rum works great)
• 1–2 tsp softened butter
• 1 tbsp brown sugar or demerara syrup
• Pinch of cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice (or a pre-mixed pumpkin pie spice)
• 6–8 oz hot water (or hot apple cider for extra flavor)
• Optional: splash of vanilla extract or a cinnamon stick for garnish
Muddle the butter, sugar, and spices in your mug to form a paste. Pour in the hot rum (pre-warmed if you like), then top with hot water/cider and stir until everything melts together. Garnish with a cinnamon stick or grated nutmeg. It’s velvety, sweet-spicy, and ridiculously comforting.
Later I have two loads to Yorkton loaded in the heated shop heading out now.
