Do keep in mind that they were only successful because government was printing scads of money during the expansion time making it work. So the government being grossly irresponsible was a major factor in the hyper farm consolidation we have witnessed. But yeah, successful nonetheless.

Woe to you who join house to house and field to field till no space is left and you live alone in the land.

Who said they were successful? What does that even mean?

I said they were successful. Successful at exploiting the low interest rates and easily obtained financing.

Successfully leveraging it into an empire by being in the right time and place.

Possibly successfully covering up operating losses with exponential growth.

Successfully riding ng the real estate boom. And potentially successful at getting out at the top.

I bet it was a lot of fun while it lasted.

        ???????

All us unsuccessful farmers get to pay for scammers. The reckoning is coming.

And how will you have to pay for the scammers, if in fact the turnout to be scammers?

I thought you once said you were closer to retirement than a beginning farmer?

If they have inflated land values up well beyond what you think they should be worth, hasn't that increased your net worth when you are close to the age when you would be selling land?

Land prices have gone up pretty much world wide. What a few outfits do can and does have an impact on land prices on the upside but what about the downside? there is a huge amount of land now on the market and a lot of others wanting to sell into decent prices. As per the discussion a few months ago how much retracement of land prices will occur? I don't think it will be 50% but I can see 30-40%. I think 25% from the highs is happening real soon.

Past that, younger generation are taking over. Selling not one of the concerns. Pushing century farm , not going anywhere.

So how is this misadventure costing you anything?

Constant question is how much dirt is the next generation going to need even for a modest living ? And try to match the steel for the dirt and the inflation for that living. Plus you kinda want some nice stuff in the yard otherwise your days could be long and tedious.

Unless Aggie farms in another country, this poster (#73) seems to think it will cost us all for a very long time.
