Economies of scale are important. More acres spreads out your fixed costs Forage.

While bigger acres does improve efficiencies in many areas, as size grows another layer of management causes a bump in labor costs. ... Until acres grow to even it out.

So cost reduction is not a straight downward line but kinda bumpy.

Up to 2500 acres a family can handle with efficient cheaper equipment, 2500- 5000 needs employees and BIGGER more costly/new iron, 5-10000 need 2 or 3 sets of latest expensive equipment and 10 employees, over 10000, we are a BTO and very complex, will need luck to balance all the balls. Survival Depends on how much DEBT. Many in our area have come and gone over the last 50 years.

MNP opinion that 2500 and under with minimal DEBT is most profitable.

With no land debt and not renting any land, frees up alot of capital to do other things.
Like pay taxes, save for retirement, buy equipment, waste money on your wife and kids.....

I think any good financial advisor or accountant would tell you that money spent on your wife is not wasted when compared to the cost of a divorce.

That is a sound investment. With a great ROI.

Which ist why I will be missing a week of prime snowmobiling weather to go wallow on a beach. That's why I built a new house, when I could peacefully live in a one-room shack. And why our family seems to have a lot more shoes than we have feet.

Is there such a thing as "no wife, happy life"?

Fairly certain its " no wife, happy life" in all circumstances.... unless youve never had one..and then for some unexplicable reason you try for one?

Wives are something only those who've had one can have a clue about. After a few swings at bat, I can say I have only that many clues. Although a poster boy for Slow Learner, I can't not yearn for that home run.
Women are amazing creatures. If you have one that likes you most of the time, you've got part of the secret to life figured out.
And remember, sex is like cooking, you can do it yourself, but it's much better with help or if someone does it for you.

                  Wow. This was sure interesting.

Yes, women are certainly interesting creatures.

We have another small land sale in our area of some property I rented last year for a one-year deal to help out in a situation.

I had to laugh when a perfectionist friend told me, "if you want something done right, it's best to do it yourself"!
