Neighbour stops in for a B.S. today. Says Dekalb is pushing hard to get back his business. I said really, what did they say? They offered him $100 off per bag, no minimum acreage requirement. An additional $25 a bag rebate mailed out next fall and a $125 off per bag in 2026. How does that make you regular Dekalb customers feel? They offer a much advertised $25-$75 per bag off based on minimum acreages. Now full disclosure, they called me a couple weeks ago, I told them their prices was too high, wasn’t interested, that simple.

Eyeah.. like what are we talking? 100 buck a bag off what?
Pioneer does the same thing yr after yr to try to get my bizness. Ohhh we will give u the loyalty bonus... the new guy bonus.. blah blah.. but that doesnt mean much when they start their bag price off at 950 bucks.
If your neighbour can buy dekalb treated with fortenza for sub 700$ a bag.. then do it. ( 902)
Thats cheap.
if its 800.. then thats 100 more than im paying so big whoop.
Thats what the companies always do to gain more bizness. Price chop.
the difficult conversation comes the following yr when they dont get that 100$/ bag premium.....
Been growing deklopp for yrs.
Will continue to.
902 was a monster for us this yr.
Plus.. how is this " deal" to your neighbour any different than cargill calling me and offering up a great deal on urea?

DK902 with Buteo and Fortenza paid by Dec. 31 $797.25. Best advertised rebate is $75 a bag for 1000 to 1500 acres. But because he has bought a competitor for 2 years more money offered.Originally posted by goalieguy847 View PostEyeah.. like what are we talking? 100 buck a bag off what?

Ew. You guys are getting hosed. Our local retails here started 902 before any rebates at 740 a bag.
fortenza on deklopp is 40 a bag as they own the stuff ( and for 4$ per acre you may as well get buteo AND fortenza and have cutworm control )
This is quite honestly just booked.. i will never pre pay for canola... the price swing isnt there and any booking is honored. It has to be or else you may az well tell them to suck it.
i would tell them you want 750 with fortenza.
On 150 bags im under 700....

Anyone else price out Canterra Canola seed?
I was shocked. My quote came back almost a hundred dollars higher per bag for their latest and greatest LL variety vs. an equivalent Dekalb. I am all in for supporting Canadian companies but that price difference for an already wildly overpriced product a bridge too far.
