The Canola tarrif is the price we pay for protecting Canadian jobs??

News is, the GM plant in Ingersol Ontario that produces EV delivery vans is closing shop. It was the only EV manufacturing plant in Canada.

Does this open the door with the federal government to get a Canola deal done with China?

General Motors has confirmed it is ending production of its BrightDrop electric delivery vans at the CAMI Assembly plant in Ingersoll, leaving the future of the Oxford County facility uncertain.

Still say this would have never happened if you would have sold the CWB assets to China instead of Saudi Gov't and Bunge. China will always pick grain to punish you.

Rally your mla. Provinces can create legislation to stop companies from buying land. There are always loopholes..but they can definitely slow it down.

Dont u think that carney repealing the EV mandate probably was a final blow ? I cant imagine those workers are very happy with him.

also. A deal will get done with china. But at this point its probably getting to be too late. Theyve filled some of their requirements with australian canola....and probably will supply themselves thru spring with additional purchases by christmas.

At this point its time to start finding other buyers and or more crush capacity...china plays this game time and time again. Next yr thry will slap a tariff on because of... * throws dart*...
              oh..
              Verticillium stripe concerns.

I get we still need the canola sales to china but we need to quit letting them dictate when and how they buy our canola.. which is always after some stupid tariff game they play.

Frankly.. i dont believe we should drop the EV tariff. Unless it comes with some sort of guarantee that they wont tariff us within 5 yrs on our canola/ oil/ meal.

We have become a political pawn in a giant sandbox of sh*t....between trump and xi.

But. Atleast we arent sitting on a buttload of soy!
