Friday Crop Report on a Thursday, wow the last week of August.

Is it harvest pressure or what that has caused the total collapse in grain prices?

This past week pea's nose dived, now malt and feed barley and wheat are not far behind.

Canola is trying to stay afloat but also be toast soon. Basis is insane.

China caused the peas and canola shit show all can be blamed on Ottawa.

Let China sell there shit who is going to buy more than one electric car. Really if its like there other shit it should last a year or two then die.

CoCarney and the Blond bimbo are trying and lying all over the world. Nothing is getting done and more pain every day at home.

Alberta had it right yesterday Ottawa collects from the west and gives to liberal strong holds in the east to keep getting elected.

Ah that's enough lets do the crop report.

    Harvest is at 8% done.

Hrs and Durum have been shut down for the most part and some harvest has started. Our new neighbour from southern Sask needs to realize you can't do massive acres in our area without a little fall The desiccation. First hrs came off last night south of the valley looked good haven't got yields.
    NORTH WILL START NEXT WEEK.

Peas are almost done and yields and quality are good. Its dry so yea no kidding. Lentils are also almost done with similar results in our area.

Malt barley seeded early is also almost done. Later seeded getting swath and will go on weekend. Really late greenfield needed a good July rain. Yields Good so far.

Oats are getting swath and some standing will be ready to go next week. Looks ok but no bumper.

Flax is in full shut down and some might not need to get shut down. So this is what farming in the south is like. Yield dill be down.

Canary is close but nothing touched yet.

Canola we have a few early may seeded fields shut down. Next Saturday will roll. Looks ok for min rain all year. No bumper but ok. I'm still sticking with 19.4 mt since a real cold front will end the crop next week. Spraying more today.

Pastures smartened up a bit but need a good shot of moisture this fall. Some second cuts on new alfalfa fields.
So basically its the beginning of harvest for us, some good early results but were being paid piss all for our crops. Prices up for Fert and seed etc. Why not its all making sense.

Have a great weekend and stay safe. Share your area.

Did SCIC change the way they pay for Deer and geese damage?

Just asking for a guy who wants open season on geese.

    Parts insanity continues.

    Go riders!

Harvest still weeks away here on our farm, in spite of earliest start to seeding I've ever had. Finally getting some much needed heat which was absent all summer. Canola still grass green. Still seeing the odd yellow field in my travels. The potential is huge if iit doesn't freeze before october.
This is the first year since about 2012 that we haven't been too dry at any point since crops emerged. It was too dry to germinate the later crops this spring, but since it came out of the ground conditions have been nearly perfect except for the lack of heat.

Haying is still a full swing. It's been the first weather window all summer. Not much second cut around, but what is is exceptional.

Huge expansion in corn acres locally this year. And what great year it was to plant corn. Some of these crops can put Iowa to shame. More silage being put up than I can remember seeing for years. Perhaps stockpiling?

Some early barley coming off around here. Peas as well. Canola and wheat turning fast in the heat. Canola and wheat have a lot of green patches due to poor emergence caused by hot dry winds during and after seeding combined with a very dry stretch of weather. Planes have been going steady
        worms and desiccating.

First wheat in my area getting combined this week. Seeded roughly April 20. Early seeded wheat doesn’t look as good as wheat seeded May 1 and after. This neighbour traded 3 S series John Deeres with 35 foot headers for 2 New Holland 9.90 with 45 foot FD2 macdons. Looks like fun. Sounds like early results in the low 70 range on wheat. Most barley yields I have heard so far to the west of me have a 1 in the front. To the east a little lower.

Canola swathing has started, looks like many are planning to straight cut, time will tell.

Pastures are starting to suffer from the heat. Lots of second cut hay being cut and baled up in the heat. I agree with AB5 the corn crops are unreal, lots of 10 foot corn, crazy.

              Edmonton area...

Peas done around these parts. Yields meh but standability was fantastic. Made up for yield loss over previous yrs when we basically got all of them..

Pretty tired of hearing all the farmers whining about grain prices. Huge amount of peas got seeded and russia has been pumping peas to china for a couple yrs now. India does their thing like they always do.
Anyone whos ever grown peas before knows that this is exactly what pea price does every fall. Other pulses the same when there are big crops and loud mouths.
Not defending the liberals but every single conservative govt was on board with canada tariffing chinese EVS and now all their con voting constituents are whining about it.

If im pointing my middle finger at anyone it would be to the govts down south. Look at the problems that have been caused with canadas relationship with china due to what the US govt has asked of us.
Tariff chinese EVs and expect canada to follow suit and subsequently get pummelled on grain tariffs from china?

              yup

Arrest Meng Wanzhou at canadian border at the extradition request of USA govt and then get pummelled on grain tariffs from china?

              yessir

When our largest trading partner says JUMP and we say how high.. how are things expected to go any different?
drop the ev tariffs and what does trump do to us?

Do we all believe that canada dropping most counter tariffs on US products outside of CUSMA this week... wasnt an olive branch and isnt trying to soften the expected blowback coming from Trump when we do ( hopefully) sort out something with China?

              Unsprayed

standing barley here getting combined.. dry as a fart.

              unsprayed

Standing wheat getting combined here... dryer than a fart.

canola staging it outself out of swathing ( we usually like to do 50/50 swathed vs standing for logistic reasons)

Yields good. Not great. But a
              solid start to harvest.

We are way behind. Lentil yields in old lentil country are in the cistern. I have heard a 12 bushel yield on top end gumbo. Better on crappy land. Our durum and Canola will need all this week to even come close. Yes the planes are flying from early morning until sunset, can’t keep up. Stay Safe, farmers always miss Labour Day weekend, and they grab anyone around who can drive.

Anyone I’ve talk to say record lentil yields. Reds down to 23.5, small greens maybe .28

Peas are down because of china so don't givee that billshit. Rushia is our competitor now and India is taking bg as much cheap shit as they can get.

Ottawa lost is a great market.

                    Maybe elbows up
