We have a decent crop of RR canola. Turning quickly. Pioneer 511G. Will need swathed by Monday I would say, maybe Tuesday. Forecast is for temperatures up to 31-32 next week. We have both a decent swather and sprayer. So simple question, swath it or reglone by wheeled sprayer or by plane?

In same boat.We regloned our peas and it did a good job even on kochia although they may grow back.Seen some swaths blow in wind last week, not pretty.Think we will spray half with roundup, and leave rest.Seems if you leave it to ripen to maturity on its own you end up with a much heavier sample.Thoughts.

Advantage glufosinate is registered for canola pre harvest. 70% colour change where reglone is 90.
we did reglone on peas... tuesday. wasnt hot. Got a half inch on weds night.
but did it right before dark with 20 gpa of water.
Peas were 14.5 today and the canada thistle was torched. Amazing how well reglone can work this time of yr.
As for the canola
. We are in the same boat. But. Im going to let it stand. There is no point swathing canola in this heat without a rain coming. All you are doing is reducing yield. It has a hard enough time filling those seeds in this heat while its still ATTACHED to the ground... let alone without any roots to feed it.
Leave it be. Hit it with glufos at 70% then try some at 90% with reglone.
DONT SWATH.
And isnt that a podshatter variety.. the 511 ?
or a strong podshatter?
Just swath it later if need be...we swathed some invigor 343 .. or 340. Whhichever.. and it was rippppee. Barely shelled at all.
Dont swath in this heat. Youll do more damage than good.
