    Just a suggestion
there are many good people in ag

End of the day it’s a simple request that could just come from the western Canadian premiers , with the full backing of all ag industry and MLA’s
Simple message, negotiate an end to all those tarrifs or initiate a direct payment bailout

Let’s not forget about the big picture here and fret about the little things

If we had good people in ag , this wouldn't be a thread on agriville.

Between the current drought this year and now the tariffs , the last good person in ag was Grant Devine

His salary as premier wasn't going to back the farm losses and I think he recognized the hurt back then.

this premier is an idiot. Brad Wall knew shit about cattle until the last 5 years, but was helpful in consolidating the auction houses and decimating the slaughterhouse in Moose Jaw

Nope , Just someone that can call the Prime Minister and make the case to cover the losses of his political incompetence.

As you mentioned , there should be a simple solution . No different than the 1.2 billion handed to the forestry industry or the 50 billion wasted on a non existent EV industry.

This isn't a new issue, the premiers should have speaking to it long ago.

I have taken and accepted my losses from labor day 2024.

Just not really looking forward to more because of politics where MPs and MLAs give themselves a raise and don't put an honest effort into representing those that vote for them.

              Agreed
This should have been addressed long before now and the fall out is hitting producers already very thin bottom lines

There are 3 automakers and 40,000 canola growers.
Why is it we only want to fix the roof when it's raining.

That's a good question for MLAs MPs that have the ability to change the policy in regards to BRMs and a better question for farm groups that make recommendations to them.

As can be seen by this thread , there are some that want to go it alone against treasuries of other countries or are willing to take a financial hit for another nonexistent industry. Farm groups have those types representing farmers. Without fully knowing the harm they are doing to farmers.

Others have spoken in favour of direct payments .

The industry hears both sides and pushes those views to politicians that suck it up because it gives them an out to do nothing.

The interesting thing is that when direct payments might come , those that rally against them - never send the cheque back. win win.

Get a gold star for saying farmers don't need government direct payments then let those that lobby for the adhoc do the real work.

Trade Policy won't make up for the financial hit.

MPs don't have the ability to put a new roll of TP on the PMs crapper.
Our democracy has allowed a lot of power to the PMO and neutered MPs and puppeteered the so called Senate.
Ag in Canada is dairy and we're too divided to learn from that.

So why are MPs worth $200k a year?

And why did they study the BC ferry deal so quickly - during the summer break?
