No farm should bear the cost of political incompetence.

we are not asking to top up 20 buck canola.
14 dollar canola doesn't buy much, or pay off much.
Agree totally, a one time direct payment of the shortfall will not effect inputs , machinery , or rents
will just keep our heads above the water line
problem is some producers are worried that their neighbours will get more than them , it’s a mentality engrained thing in western Canada
End of the day it’s by far the simplest and by far the most effective short term solution.
it’s all relative wether you have 500 ac or 50,000 ac
the hurt is the same per acre

It’s not a subsidy, it would simply be a one time payment for the incompetent actions of the federal government to protect one industry by sacrificing another
Why are all the other announcements of bailouts due to tarrifs not considered subsidies ??
        Cause there not

The big boys grow 1 million bushels a yr, that's a mega hit..don't think their pockets are very deep either.
          it's all in perportion.

It’s not rocket science and does not not oversight
simple , what’s the 5 year average western Canadian canola yield ?
            About 37 bus / ac
            Times about $2 / bus
that’s about $70 / ac based on your 2025 seeded canola acres regardless of farm size.
It does not need to be any more complicated than that and certainly needs no government oversight or strings attached

That is has been lost easily and is needed to offset higher inputs even on just a moderate farm with a moderate fertility and input program .

Agree, sounds to simply for any government program.
they would need a million dollar study to determine how to employ more people, then it would take yrs to get to our pockets.

So its based on canola acres?
what about chinese tariffs on yellow peas? I grow yellows. I want some money.

The first thing this would do is increase rent. Then equipment.

You need capitalism to chew thru the weeds. NOT govt subsidies keeping heads above water.
Was there money lost if you have pre priced canola for october at 16$/ bhshel? I did. Im not " out" money.

You guys think that the govt wouldnt have some environmental....... information.. etc etc hoop to jump thru to get that money?

So they give a subsidy. And then what?
drop the ev tariff? dont drop the ev tariff?

Do we get one on wheat due to trump?

Stop whining for handouts. I dont need them. You dont need them. None of us need them. Go farm in the EU and ser how that govt intervention turns out.

We dont want more govt control.

Crop insurance value for canola is still well below what i can price my canola for today. So am i at a loss if i hit my avg? Or if i dont?

                      And again...
does a subsidy to farm give ybe govt the right to keep the ev subsidy or drop it?
