All this to protect a imaginary EV industry in Canada and a handful of foreign worker jobs
    Only in Canada

This is an interesting question though. Forget about where the fertilizer market is, what will you spend for fertilizer in this market? I pulled the trigger a few weeks ago on most of my 2026 46-0-0 at just over $800 a tonne. I was basing it on $15 canola which is a number that works for us at a 35-40 bushel crop. I am sort of regretting it now though. Because at $13.5 it is a different story. This $1 per bushel drop today takes all the profit out of an average crop and turns a below average crop into a loser. Wheat was already a loser if it has a 6 in front of it. Things are looking very grim.

Well timed actually by China….they thought this through. They made the announcement just as harvest is about to begin. There is harvest pressure still to come which will drive the price down further yet.

I’ll say this again, if the liberals truly wanted to move to EV vehicles they should drop the tariffs on Chinese EV’s so the average working person could afford to buy them. Secondary, this could push other manufacturers to lower their prices to compete. It’s a win win for most.

EXACTLY , If you are trying to save the planet, why does it matter where the EVs come from?

China had to time that very close indeed possible short canola crop would have pushed the market up. Got to keep a good farmer down so gotta act now. Bill Murray ( GROUND HOG DAY ) comes to mind.

I do believe one of the posters on Agriville said that the price of fertilizer follows the price of canola. I guess we will see if he is correct..
