There are some pictures on twitter of sprouted lentils. That has to be disappointing considering up until August the crop had progressed as a nice crop.
Didn't see a lot of diseases pressure in the pulse crops this year.
Disclaimer: I do not have any pulse crops in this year so my opinion is 60kmh views and social media. I don't go into other's fields.

With the amount of rain in lentil country it will be impossible not to have quality issues
we have seen nice lentil crops turn to junk with less rain than a lot of areas got
X3’s and sample lose money big time and can be near impossible to sell

Just so happens I seen Mike Mitchell’s new video today on rain on lentils
Not a regular viewer of Mitchell’s YouTube but this one caught my eye today and timing is perfect for this subject
In the video Mike says that’s after about 5 inches the past month or so.
Now envision areas with double that rain in lentil country.

Some areas dead ripe lentils and much too wet to get out there. Not just quality issues but I'm hearing shell out and pod drop as well. If it gets hot now it will sound like popcorn standing out in the field. Not sure how they are standing everywhere, but ours got pummeled flat and now reblooming. Expect plenty of dirt tag as well, pushing mud with the header never fun. Exactly why I don't like preselling, even with Act of God. Raining again as I type its relentless.Last edited by biglentil; Aug 11, 2025, 05:04.

Price of lentils should move up at some point. Be less acres next year. If long term precipitation stays the same next year will have above average rainfall, added with full moisture profile if their is any kind of snow.
Waiting here for it to dry out some to desiccate lentils. Should be a good test acid 95, 1/2 rate diquat, 5 gals/acre water. Day time spraying.
