    A real lobby effort results

    Mark Carney says -

"""""Canada’s steel industry is core to our competitiveness. We’re backing that industry and our workers so they can meet the demands of the future. We’re building Canada strong — with Canadian steel.?""'"

You don't see Mark Carney saying that about farming.

I think steel is high up on Carney's list as he plans to "decarbonize" Canada's steel industry.
Make it the only highr priced choice for about no body?
I'd like to see the non tariff/tariff barriers to get steel into the EU.

You used to work in at the mill in Regina bucket?

Do they use any coke in there in the furnace?
They melt scrap in electic furnaces?
Is there any iron ore involved?

Were did the product ship to?

It was scrap steel . Products were plate. O&G pipe . Spiral pipe for the gas pipelines. I think the large ERW pipe mill goes up to 20" ( can't remember)

Ipsco at the time I worked there was reducing their emissions by upgrading their baghouses. That was early to mid 90s.

There was no coke in their furnace or very little for refining the steel. They added aluminum, molybdenum etc.

Quite a place considering their beginnings.

It recently changed hands again to Atlas holdings - a US holding company.

They have been EAF since the beginning in 1950s , something the large steel companies down east just switched to with a billion dollars from the government.

I hate to be a complete asshole but I hope guys like him starve to death. No real appreciation for where their food comes from. No appreciation for hard work and sacrifice. A dumb dick like him should realize after the Covid bullshit that everyone is important in making our society function.

            - the problem is food comes from the store
            - no shortages of food there
            - quality is all good
