Sorry.. you think smith is doing a good job?
    which bit?

Danielle Smith is gutting alberta. I DO think of my kids when making my comments. ( I have 3 small dudes).
Our education system is a gutted out joke. Core 4 avg class sizes are what... 32 kids now in high school? Not good enough.

Healthcare system. Joke. Private for profit funding and clinics has NOT decreased wait times and somehow public funding to these clinics has gone up. Weird. Almost like the contracts were negotiated at inflated prices?

    Healthcare scandal.... check.

And these kumquats are still blaming the NDP ( despite how they broke ground on what... 22 new schools in our province?) and forget about the previous 60 yrs of conservative rule.

Smith is nothing more than a wolf in sheep's clothing. Lining the pockets of her business friends under the guise of jobs...jobs...jobs.
LOOK at the meeting she had while discussing a high speed rail network in alberta, which was deemed so secretive that it's content is protected by the FOIP act ( freedom of information)... yet her husband was there because he... uh.. likes trains?
0 official capacity. 0 vetting. and when asked she claimed hes one of her advisors because shes married to him.
didn't she go after Notley repeatedly because her husband was commdirector for CUPE but he had never attended any govt meetings? Ah. Right.
hell. Shes even been caught by the ethics commisioner for breaching.... and then that same commissioner was canned ( sorry, not contract renewed with the next one put in place....by her)

For those of us living in alberta... can anyone name a single thing that has gotten cheaper since the UCP took power?

Huge tax cuts to O+G and how many moved out of province.

Scrapped the superlab which would have ( potentially) lowered costs for medical lab services ( but then gave absurd bogus contracts to dynalife for bogus lab services).

what was the final cost per bottle of kids Tylenol from turkey? ( all were recently donated to ukraine/ charity)

Scrapped solar subsidies and removed cap on electrical price rises.
Removed caps on insurance premiums... now I KNOW all of you felt that.

Moving to no fault insurance ( do a quick read on how well thats worked out in a few of the states that did it... 2 actually moved back away from it)

    Privatizing schools
    privatizing healthcare

Allowing big $ into municipal elections AND hand counting ballots? do you know the error rate by ballot machines vs hand counted? Various studies have shown that hand counting is less accurate. All the time. And costs more money and takes more time. But.. those machines are rigged. Right?
    Ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous.

Municipal grants cut to pre 2018 levels. Throwing some rcmp funding onto municipalities.
Decreasing funding to aish and now revamping their rent rates to now include the aish funds in the calculation. So now the bare minimum fund to help keep aish recipients alive and well will be used to .. calculate their rents higher. Awesome.

Oh look. A squirrel! Book banning of anything and I quote direct from the ministerial order here..

"Explicit sexual content,” it says, covers “masturbation, including touching of a person’s own genitals or anus with a finger, artificial sexual organ or other substitute for a sexual organ."

But the bible is kosher, right?
    incest. Child marriage.
Maybe that little tidbit in * checks notes* Ezekial about a woman who's lover had a dick like a donkey and jazzed like a horse?
i mean really.. a donkey doesnt have enough.. it needed to be a horse?
When did the ucp become such prudes?

Danielle Smith is NOT in this for any of us. Just like the last time when she walked across the floor to try to save her skin. Any of you who read agriville ranch on the eastern slopes? How's that coal mining going to turn out for everyone? But.. jobs jobs jobs!

What do the UCP have to do... MORE than what they've already done to us, as albertans, for people to be truly angry and quit blaming 4 inconsequential years of a previous government.... from 10 yrs ago?
Maybe mask us all and lock us in our homes.. but then have a drunken dinner on a rooftop patio? No? not enough?

How much went to Sam mraiche and his fumbling companies?
    nah.. not enough.

    and as for the feds.

What does the east care about us.. when for the last 2000 yrs we've voted conservative. Regardless of whether the candidate was good or bad. Does anyone believe that PP gives a flying piss about alberta? We would vote in a gay black Muslim man if he ran under a conservative banner. There are no votes here for the left. What good does it do for them to even bother to pander to us?

Pierre is more of the same. why does anyone think he could stand up Quebec... when those are the votes he needs?

I'm not rooting for carney... his past history and writing are alarming at best...

But look. The major projects bill is now passed. That might be the most consequential bill passed by any prime minister in a very.. very
    . Long time.

Atleast carney understands the value of Oil and gas has to our country. He knows we have to get our products to tidewater and that our largest trading partner is now essentially... a trading enemy.

Pierre doesnt deserve to hold leadership of this party. His defeat might be the worst in conservative history. That's the angering part. What hope do the cons have of winning next time around if, say, a pipeline makes it up to Hudson Bay?

Pierre is the nerd from school who got laser eye surgery and expects everyone to forget he used to pee his pants in middle school so he wouldn't have to participate in gym class.

oh yeah. And he just declared himself a patriotic canadian and is against alberta secession..so.... there's that little chestnut.

I'm a patriot. Canadian first. Albertan second. 5th generation farm that was settled here in 1898. Oil and gas runs deep on our farm...literally. Can still see the oiled out remnants of the holding tanks from Redwater oil boom when oil was discovered on cooks farm.. on the far north end of our farm.
I get it. I DO. Im fed up.

But we can't pretend that Smith and her cronies are anything more than a dog and pony show just to line the pockets of those already in power... all the while undermining our own provinces prosperity.

I think about my kids all the time when I see the billion $ companies paying pennies for the extraction of our resources. Undertaxed and over subsidized. One of the lowest royalty rates in the 1st world.

I think about my kids when I see our crowded and underfunded schools attempting to pump out skilled professionals to staff our underfunded and overcrowded hospitals. Or our infrastructure system that's struggling to keep up with demand due to a population influx that was campaigned for by the. * checks notes again* ucp govt! Whoooops. But yeah. Immigrants are the problem!!!

And all the while im supposed to be mad at everrrryonne else to the east of us.. and the west... because they feel differently than Alberta does?
no sir. My great grandfather .. and grandfather.. would stir in their graves if knew what Danielle Smith and the Alberta first buffoons were up to. We are a nation first.

Also... you guys want to include Manitoba in your new country? A province that has received equalization payments.... * checking notes one last time here* every year since the inception OF EQUALIZATION PAYMENTS and in 25/26 will be receiving 4.6 BILLION?

    * slaps forehead*

Cmon now. I know I didn't read that right.... did I?

But yeah. Think about YOUR kids when you comment next.. or.. more importantly. Vote next.

      Because I do.
I really and truly do. They're the reason I farm. They're the reason I pretty much do anything.
ans they are especially the reason I get angry at our current UCP who care so very little about furrow... or hamloc... about my pops.....or most importantly, my kids. Who are willing to put more on the backs of all of us, while distracting us with nonsense.

      Book banning. Amazing.

Looks like Carney 's pow wow with chiefs was a bust ( not a consultation but a engagement ) his words. Meaning they sat in a room and bitched to media and he sat in a different room and praised to CBC how great things are going. Don't hold your breath on any pipe lines or mines in the future.

Seems to be going about the same as it always does.
          Why would we expect different?
It's the same people just saying what they think the sheep want to hear then do nothing?
          AKA, Buisness as usual?

For sure you won't be traveling to the US with a worthless $.

Everything is going to get a lot more expensive?

Premier Smith is a vey smart woman, but she does what's best for her, (and more importantly what's best for the deep pockets keeping her in power) Her manipulating power is incredible, the sort that can screw you over and you will thank her for it, hence the right wing support blindly given to her.

The Healthcare file is a complete disaster, bureaucracy and management were the problems, the UCP's strategy, create more departments, create more levels of management. The morale of health care workers is in the tank with the constant changes and uncertainty. Luckily Trumps gong show in the States is ongoing or I believe we would have seen an enormous healthcare brain drain.

The pet projects that Ms Smith has keep getting her attention and pushed through regardless of public opinion. And these take huge government dollars....my dollars. Example, the recent expansion of the Sherriff services, if anyone thinks that's not the first step in removing the RCMP, give your head a shake. The APP just won't go away, she keeps bringing it back, but huge majority through roundtable and poles have said they don't want it. She says she's not a separatist but again, keeps leaving the door open.

We just had a by-election here, Tara Sawyer replaced Nathan Cooper. (fantastic trade, hopefully good for ag) Wasn't any doubt UCP would hold the riding and Tara had every quality she needed to win but at the end of every spiel and advertisement they had to add "and we are gonna help Ms Smith fight back against Ottawa". That's all the base needed to hear and she had their vote. How about just do your job, work with all levels of government.

The recent support for bringing back a true conservative party to Alberta, I hope will open the eyes of the UCP and stop pandering to the special interest groups. Maybe not on Agriville, but the majority of Albertans are in the center of the political spectrum with a lean to the right and have no political home. (fiscal conservatives who believe in social programs)

Conservatives will eat Pollieve before the next election and end up going into the next race with a new unknown horse and lose again, same pattern over and over. I find it hard to understand to this point all the negativity towards Carney from the Pollieve supporters. They pretty well had the same platform by election day and so far appears that Carney is following through on what he promised. Hasn't been anything too scary done yet on the liberal end of things?? Perhaps we just need a chill pill to see how things go for a while.

Goalie, in spite of the fact that you call me a traitor because I took the time to understand the math on the economic future of a United Canada, I will take the high road instead.

Offer up your best sales pitch for the West remaining in a United Canada.

How do you see the rest of the country overcoming their terminal demographics, the overwhelming commitments to social programs without a tax base. The collapse of manufacturing, hastened by the ongoing loss of our largest trading partner who has now turned protectionist. Their fervent animosity towards any industries which actually contribute to our net trade surplus. Their adoption of the European economic, social and energy models which have been proven to be disastrous.

Their proven track record of voting against their own long-term economic interests, choosing instead short-term gain for long-term pain.

Can you offer any future scenario under which the rest of Canada could reverse those long-term trends and be equal contributors to confederation?
Can you foresee any situation under which western Canada would be better off economically by remaining in this relationship? Not emotional or ideological or historical reasons, but hard economic arguments?

I always keep an open mind, I am willing to change my position if you can make a convincing argument to the contrary.

Goalie, not sure where to start and if experience has taught me anything nothing I will say will change your mind and I know this because I doubt there is anything you could say that would change mine.

As far as schools, no doubt one of the UCP’s original platform planks was to bring per capita education spending more in line with other provinces. I believe they have had some success there. One problem in Alberta is we have attracted many younger people to Alberta causing a large increase in demand for school capacity.

Hospitals have suffered the same fate. Statistics certainly show we need more doctors. This is not unique to Alberta. Name one province in Canada where the hospital system is working well, you can find news stories from every province decrying the state of the health system. My sister lives in Australia, certainly seems like they have a superior model. You can buy health insurance from the government that gives you access to shorter wait times and enhanced availability.

One question, can you point to something that has been improved in our federal government services after ten years of Justin Trudeau and roughly $700 billion being added to our federal deficit?! I can’t. Bigger government and more spending doesn’t necessarily equal better services. As an example spending on indigenous services has ballooned from $8 billion a year in 2015 to $38 billion per year today. Does it appear to you that our Indigenous peoples are any happier?!

As for you insinuating I am not thinking of the futures of my children and grandchildren, quite insulting and nothing is further from the truth. Large deficits are nothing more than deferred tax increases, that simple. Enjoy your day.

Oh and I bet the posters on here from Manitoba were quite impressed with your tone..

Biggest problem with the conservative party is they elect a leader and hope everyone in the middle will move right to the leader they choose. Why not elect a leader in the middle like the liberals did .Much easier to gain votes and still have some what of a political correction. I know it is very hard for many to understand but it is those that change their vote from election to election that choose the government.
