Didn't India buy the most Peas last yr?

In the previous crop year china took about a million mt and India took 800,000. This year I believe India took 700'000 mt and China bought 800,000 mt to end of May. But no shipments have been done for months to either country.

China buys green peas. Indian hasn't for years. Today India won't buy much this fall so the yellow pea market is very precarious without Chinese tariff resolution.

I believe there has been significant increase in green peas for 2025 crop. They were a clear leader last couple years. I would expect green and yellow pricing to come together at some point.

And on that note we have no alternative but to make summer fallow great again. There are no markets for what canuckistan has to sell. Canuckistan is facing a depression but hey we gots a global bankster in charge so we will be fine. The guys that paid 800K per quarter will be getting a cash call from their not so friendly banker soon. That is what kicked off the not so great 80's.

Waaaaaay more lentil acres here than pea acres. At least that's what I'm seeing in this corner. There used to be more peas grown around here but you need a long break between pea crops or we face the wrath of the root rot disease complex and leaf diseases. I haven't toured Western Canada so can't speak to the rest of the Prairies.

Some people around here think that if they have to ride headers on the ground to harvest a crop, they're going to do it for higher value lentils than peas. The switch away from peas is already occurring in this area.

I realize most aren’t growing peas to pay their cash rent at todays values, but in reality the other commodities aren’t much different today then 25 yrs ago, when comparing input and machinery costs.

It's the green pea acreage that's up but even yellow pea acreage appears to be up. Anti urea play. Maybe it's only a 10% increase on total acres but it's still up.
