Irrigation farmers in the three major districts in saskatchewan have extracted $400 per acre over the last 10 years. That would be a start for dryland farmers who do the heavy lifting of production here.

Crop insurance in my area is still at a big loss. Are we going to hear Scott Moe complaining that farmers are drawing on crop insurance and the govt doesn’t get to spend that money. In the new world of highly manipulated future markets where actual numbers mean very little. Sales reporting? Still great grain robbery going on? Tariffs everywhere on Canadian grain sales. Crazy taxes on liquor, malt barley long term demand destruction.

"Which farm groups?" was the original question. The NFU was mentioned, and though generally bang-on with analysis and projections, is not populated enough to be a political force.
APAS rises to the top of the advocacy pile, such as it is. I support APAS and do not wish to denigrate it, but it would be more persuasive if it represented 95% of farmers instead of 55%( ask your RMs to quit being free riders and join). After APAS would be the commissions - SaskWheat is the most authoritative but would likely answer as Sask Crops.
To speak directly to power message MacDonald/Blois/Belanger federally or Harrison/Beck provincially.

You see ministers having fun at the Calgary Stampede for guys that haven't been in their job for very long.
It it also noteworthy while the federal ag committee met, elected chairs , they put nothing on the agenda about the current state in Western Canada . They just quickly ended the meeting with " see you in the fall " like nothing was a crisis yet.
Let's be honest here. Parliament has or will go close to a year doing SFA but MPs earning excessive money for doing nothing.
Saskcrops directors allegiance lies to that organization , not farmers, so more than likely they ask for more $$$ for R&D than they make the ask for money due to drought.

The raison-d'etre of the commissions is indeed research, but part of the mandate is advocacy so it is not out of their wheelhouse to call for support for devastated areas. They already regularly talk about SCIC, AgStability, etc., so contact them - directors or the offices.
And APAS still - call reps or the office.

I’ve asked before, what does APAS do for the people in Saskatchewan?
We don't have a responsive BRM to a drought or too wet. Even though it has happened many times. STatscan has said there surveys are used to develop programs - that's questionable.
Last drought in Saskatchewan there was flooding on a flood plain in BC and a potato wart issue in PEI. Both made it to the federal ag committee . Drought didn't.
potato guys got immediate/ timely aid.
Many don't understand the current program ECAP in the states is affecting the markets here. But the money will help farmers there and by extension the economy. Everyone knows the money flows faster through farmers hands .
Other industries have been given immediate help for longer periods of time. Steel, autos, dairies are always protected. Irrigation in Saskatchewan with guaranteed crops are given $40 per acre per year , in 5 year agreements.
Dryland farmers do the heavy lifting of production here. And if you did an analysis of current conditions irrigators will be making SCIC claims this year as well, while all their production for the year is not making up for the daily decline with the current forecast.
It is easy to see a 100000 tonnes daily production reduction in dryland crops, with the current forecasts.

We had 1/4 inch last night. Few miles south an inch.So close you can see it , so frustrating to have a chance at a decent crop only to see it slowly slip away. Not going to AIM. Too much over priced equipment for me. But it’s a good show for sure for some to go to and dream. Livestock guys will be happy at least. Friend sold some cow/calf simmentals yesterday for 6400. Sold ten pairs easily he said .
