I really don’t have a problem with current supply management. I have hope that it actually does provide a fresher, safer, higher quality product for our family. If they have break even margins, compromises will be made.

Yes, Prices are higher in Canada than other countries, I see this when I travel, is it worth the risks of compromising?

Many farms could diversify into dairy, from a cow behind the brand new shop, to any scale or size. Current farmers choose not to enter this business for many reasons.

I used to here from the dairy guys, “ it a perishable “, this justification isn’t reasonable any more.

I also hear the USA has massive strategic reserves, of cheese and milk products, like oil reserves. Not sure if it’s true or not.

Supply management is a trade irritant, fact.
      - Canada doesn’t flood other markets with our high priced dairy products or do we - Milk powders and proteins?

Globalization reduced the cost for goods and services around the world, now Trump wants it all ( there will be many unintended consequences).

Sone battles aren’t worth fighting, supply management is one of them, times have changed.

      Fyi
      Trump wants Canadian:
      1. Water, imagine filling the Colerado River with Yukon and NWT water, snow melt ect for the whole western side of the USA at a lower cost, higher quality, “sustainability “
      2. Rare minerals
      3. Oil and gas
      4. other resources, lumber, etc

Will Canada give in, or Trump take it?

Lots of talking heads spouting off about trade but as usual they are all wrong. Reality is that the is only one asset of value in the entire world: the vast US consumer market where folks are not broke yet. Everyone needs access to this so what are we willing to pay to get that is the question the US president is asking. Otherwise canuckistan and the rest of the world is entirely irrelevant. Russia is relevant but little of the rest of the world is not. Many US refineries are shifting to using more light sweet crude which is abundant in the US. So we need the US, the US does not need canuckistan. That is how trade negotiations are shaping up. Canuckistan has no cards but to take whatever the US is willing to give. So if the US says that supply management is on the table, it is on the table. That simple. Water exports are a potential great opportunity. The value created by having a bit more water in Nevada and Arizona would be staggering but stupid little canuckistani will not consider that soo.....
