Bayer could be entering Chapter 11
    In the USA.

I don't care if you don't like them this isn't good for Ag.

    Yeah, buying Monsanto was insane.

But a billion US lawsuits on a product we all use is more insane.

    Fu king useless judge.

But we're in an industry with very few suppliers so that's where we are ****ed.

Don’t really like your post Dr but it’s the same here.
Crop won’t really grow. Some in dry dirt some germinated but kind of stalled out. The earliest planted in the mud is the best so far.
I have planted some really dry springs in the past like 88 and 02 and 21and always had crop come up. This year it’s struggling.
Some of the older guys have told me 1961 was a terrible year to start a crop so this one might be our 61.

Well.... thats true.. but to be fair, monsanto got caught breaking all sorts of rules including having ghost writers.. their own scientists fudging the numbers.. ...
They should get sued and i wish we could file the same sort of class actions here in canada. Bankrupt them. Its not like we cant source glyphosate elsewhere. Or their piss poor " in crop chems"..

The problem really ( looks like in the court cases) its not so much the glyph thats the problem... but the magic surfactants.
and yeah. They did get caught with doin some shady stuff so they deserve every little bit of pain they can handle.
For a giant company like that to have done what they did... welll...
i have a tough time not wanting them to cease to exist.

          Glyphosate will live on.
          So will dekalb canola...

          Screw em.
let them file for chapter 11.

Someone will buy their canola line. someone will buy their * insert product name here*.

Plus you have to remember.. alot of these recent court cases werent decided in california ( typically super left leaning liberal state)... but in georgia and missouri. These are some serious farming / down home/ salt of the earth states that generally lean way more right. Including their judges.

If glyphos was so bad farmers all around the world would be dropping like flys. My dad made it to almost 95 wore Leather gloves and open tractor.

Only so many and if its bought by one of the few left we will get ****ed.

And he smoked since he was 12, drank whole milk and walked uphill to school both ways. I know. My grandpa too.

But thats not the point. Its not that glyph is so bad..because frankly its a VERY grey area ( sort of like eating balogna or drinking coke). How to pinpoint the cause of the cancer is extremely difficult. What gave my 94 yr old grandfather cancer? What gives a 3 yr old cancer?

These arguments are beside the point.. its not what glyphosate is or isnt.. its what monsanto ( and now bayer) did and are liable for.

there are 67 000 pending cases in the usa. If they file for bankruptcy with this portion then it can be a court ordered settlement rather than going thru every single case.
You think bayer will cease to exist?

And plllleeaasseee.... someone will buy roundup... " oh noooo" ..
remember a few yrs ago when glyph was 10$/ L and glufos was 16?
I can think of atleast 10 other glyphosates that have hit the market in the last couple yrs and where are we for price now.....5.25/ L?
                glufos is sub 6.

                Bayer didnt do that.
                generics did that.

What an age to live in when 12 randos picked of the street and a person who practiced law their entire life gets to negate the work of thousands of researchers and regulators who dedicate their lives to this specific field of work.

Who needs data when an emotional story carries the day.

Just about same situation as a frost on canola
Hot , windy and plants become vulnerable
