How many dollars per day ?

With seeding in full swing across the prairies it would be very interesting to know how many tens of millions of dollars are getting spent each day to get this crop in

all with the hope of getting enough rain to get a crop come fall

Did you get some showers today furrowtickler?
Only enough to settle the dust here.
Might have got a little more on the wildfire west of here.

Same here, radar looked promising but nobody here seemed to get more than showers locally
      Dust blowing within an hour

It's a risky business to say the least, but like any business to become successful you have to spend money to make money.

Business minded people are motivated and want to succeed, even though they face constant challenges on the way.

What is more interesting is why the Canadian government won't support agriculture but throw 50+ billion at an EV industry that is already being mothballed by the large auto makers.

Canadian farmers can say they don't want government support while American farmers are driving an economy cashing cheques from the ECAP payment.

When I farmed I thought I would have to get a new calculator every yr so it would have an extra zero.
Numbers are huge these days, the breakeven point increases every yr with higher prices of everything …. except commodities.

Yup that’s why 99% of farmers today are still here .
Many of us been through more trying times and more challenges than many other businesses.
Although the past 5 years was not good in many areas. A few farms in area had to shut er down this spring . No crop and dwindling crop insurance with increased premiums put some out
This area needs a decent crop, like many dry areas in western Sask

60 million acres in Sask. over 30 days that’s 2 million per day at 150 bucks per acre, that’s 300 million per day. Pretty nice mega project. Now add in B.C., Alta and Man., as Donny would say, it’s huuuge.

Do you ever stop to think what a miracle capitalism is?

How extraordinary it is that a small handful of people in a few industries are willing to risk a small fortune over and over again to create the wealth and necessities of life that allow an entire society to flourish.
When there are so many easier, less risky options available.
I often wonder why everyone doesn't give up fighting markets and weather and bureaucracy taxes and regulations and go get a good government job with guaranteed gold plated pensions and days off.

Seriously. If you presented these two options, without sugar coating, you have to wonder why anyone would chose this one.

One can easily see how society can degenerate into being all takers and no makers.
