Friday Crop Report week 1 welcome to May

Well April sure was interesting cool then snowy then hot rainy snow etc.

Total rain moisture is 1/2 inch for our farm up till midnight. Shower this morning nothing much.

First not out but weekend should help if it gets to 30 but I don't think it will. Nothing really growing yet in our area.

Some back roads still plugged, my short cut to the farm isn't even close.

The Election sucked time to move on. Trump snd Carney played Canadians and they fell for it hook line and sinker.

    Crop report.

Seeding has began south of the valley with usual suspects on Monday. North Wednesday a few started on our side but still snow in tree lines and on some North slopes.

So 3% is done in Sask. Funny thing they are going in Swan river and NE Sask as its dry.

We have usual run off with every hole full to the brim. Those that pumped water before last weeks snow its time to do it all over again.

Average Sask Rent I would say is $100.00 acre lots paying up to $150.00.

    Seeding intentions in our area.

    Lots of lentils.

Peas are done, due to disease.

    Oats will be up.

Barley is the wild card but malt guys will roll the dice and seed the same acreage as usual. Some think Corn wont come North so feed barley might get a lift form Tarifs.

Durum will be up and I can't figure out why because HRS kicks its ass on yield and quality if you have bad fall weather.

Canola is expensive to grow and might be a filler.

Flax and canary are the same as usual.

Soy not even in the game.

    Our farm its simple.

    6000 canola
    5000 HRS
    600 peas yellow
    400 malt barley.

Will be interesting if the weather pattern in place stays or shifts.

Tell about your area and seeding progress.
Off to the farm both drills are almost ready to roll.

Lineup at the fert shed this morning we can go anywhere on the sand soil including low spots that we harrow the day before. Been banding fert for a couple days and will start putting seed in tomorrow. Guys in line up all say an inch of rain would not even slow guys down now but would be nice fall seeded and hay crops and turn the pasture button on.

Extremely wet spring here. Every slough and pot hole full. A few seeding chickpeas and lentils. We will start peas on Monday. Very little growing but maybe this weekend will help. Anyone talk to Bayer reps about rumour of them getting out glyfosate due to court cases. Our rep jumped ship to a different company this spring and haven’t heard of a replacement yet .

Im friendd with one of the higher ups at bayer and he told me they have set aside another 2 billion for lawsuit settlements.

Id like to sue them over their new varieties having GEN 1 CLUBROOT GENETICS.

I asked the rep about it.. and he was told.. " welll 401 isnt for the clubroot areas"

Wellll why the eff are you selling it at all the retails in those areas then!

Well, yesterday afternoon the temp just fell fast. Needed a touque. Drill one ready drilltwo getting anhydrous pump put in and lines changed in front. Sloughs dropping. Ripped sloughs mostly gone early now later smell potholes going so frost is coming out. Most back roads and tree lines snow should be gone by Sunday. Most will start seeding Monday.

Very dry here. We started Wednesday. Everybody is going hard now. One neighbour has flax out of the ground. Sloughs almost nonexistent.
My biggest issue has been problems with the ultra glide boom height control on my sprayer. Calibrated the height, helped a bit. Concluded that maybe I hit too many obstacles with the 2 outside sensors. Went in to local dealer, I was very fortunate they had parts or I thought I was until I heard the price. Just under $2000 a piece, oouucchh! Anyway, got them put on, did a quick test before dark, follows the ground much better. Will give it full test today.

What happened to nearby oats futures yesterday?
Appeared to drop the limit and just sit there.
Later in the day the board shows a small gain but the chart still showed a big loss?
                Anybody watch that?
Might be an issue with the Farms.com feed?
Oats futures seem almost irrelevant to prices in this area.

What about new crop wheat. Local bid yesterday from one terminal was 6.95 for 13.5 p , ouch.

Not much to see on the Oat chart.

                    Flat to small recovery today.
