Good morning. It was a great trip home, and the USA sure is a big country with lots to offer. They are moving forward. Yes, there are a few hiccups, but something is happening, and it looks good.

Ok, crop report.

1% of Sask is seeded. The extreme Sw is going but reports already that drills are getting set a little deeper as moisture isn't as good as they thought.

South of Valley the runoff is just ending.

North is full melt, backroads still plugged and trees full.

Heading to Edmonton and an hour NW on Sunday will be an interesting drive.

Now USA wheat.

If you draw a line from Waco Texas to Chicago anything on the east side is wet. Anything on the west of this is really dry. Big storms last three weeks east. Flooding etc.

Winter sheet in Waco they were putting fungicides on headed wheat. Kansas Oklahoma dry. Iowa is half Good, but wheat has lost its lustre. It's a filler for the second crop later seeded soy.

Corn was 6 in tall in Waco. Rice you could see rows in the Louisiana Delta. Flooded Fon purpose fields are interesting. Imagine a whole section of Regina gumbo under ft of water. That can be drained at any time.

Lots of fires in Oklahoma and Kansas it is that dry.

North an hour from Sioux Falls SD snow in Red River Valley up till just out of minor then one till Stoughton but that was Friday.

Back in Saskatchewan it's spring the geese are back the robins are back and it's another silly season.

Nice to see Canola back but China has a problem they need oil seeds and with Trump going after them, Australia is done selling we are a reliable source.

Wheat actually can make a profit at high yields.

Peas elevators are not buying in lots of terminals for fall 25.

Malt Barley is a joke.

Snow mostly gone here , a fair amount of water in areas that had a bit more snow . water mostly done running .
All our low productive areas the past few years are underwater and will not get seeded . Those low areas help carry yields in dry years .
Enough soil moisture here to carry till mid June . Like all areas will absolutely need July rains to make a crop .
Grain prices are holding well in the face of tariff threats , fingers crossed it stays that way and we can finally get at least an average to above average crop for the first time in 5 years .
Equipment is out and getting ready , seeding will be at least 2 weeks out

Most of the fields here are cleared off now. Only tree lines and hills (hills not very big here) with snow for the most part. Hopefully runoff at its peak. Water over roads in at least 5 places just within a few miles of my yard. Good thing rain was light overnight Tuesday or there would have been much worse flooding. Older gentleman I met about 30 years ago south of fife lake who lived through the 30’s said “All the snow this side of hell won’t grow a crop. We had snow up to the eves of the house and it all ran off down the coulees, you need rain at some point”

Heavy wet late snow and lots of snow around edmonton... all completely gone. Nothing for low spots... and the majority of dugouts are extremely * alarmingly* low. There was 0 runoff and we had more snow this winter than the last 3 yrs combined.
A couple clowns are already seeding.... but theyre smarter then the rest cuz they get to double seed in about a month!
Our farm will get started later next week... still minus 4 at night so peas and beans go in first .. .
moisture looks like it will be starting out as an issue..

canola skyrocketing ( lock some values in).

Malt barley .. meh. Dial those acres back and toss in more oats.
On the whole looks like itll be a good start but probably wont be going around any low spots ( which has never fared well for us in the long run).

Will be over 20C this weekend, everything is dry, trees are budding, finished field prep earlier this week and will start seeding this weekend, should be done by following weekend. Others with more to do have been seeding already this week. Not sure what this year will bring as it is still severe drought but hopefully lots of rain in June.

Spring runoff lasted 48hrs low spots drying up even feed pens not bad for this time of year. Canada goose making nest on top row of bales beside silage pile. Brought tractors home from shed storage thinking another week before spreading fert on ryegrass crop and hayground. Started taking down trees off fence lines always lots to do all at the same time it seems.
