Canada actually was sitting fairly well post covid in the global economy. As a farmer the last 10 years have been amazing compared to the 40 before that.
I'll bet you didn't predict that, did you?

Canada “was” ok , but we are currently sitting with massive debt per capita now due to government overspending the past decade .
Farming , well that Depends if you’ve had decent crops or not
For some it’s been extremely difficult dealing with huge inflation on all inputs and very low cash flow .
I have farmed for 35 years , definitely not been amazing here the past 10 and in many areas in western Canada have been struggling worse than here
No doubt a few areas have done well , but your generalization show’s how little you actually know.

There are two ways for governments to default on their debt.Originally posted by agstar77 View PostTrump said the U.S. could declare bankruptcy and cancel its debt.
Bankruptcy and cancel the debt as you just described.
Or money printing/ inflation to pay back the debt with worthless currency.
Guess which method has been chosen so far?

Yep the 70's where going pretty good when I started in 78 then the 80's came. Drought, shitty grain prices and high int. rates . Don't know if it can happen like that again but sure don't want to find out ! Canola went from 8 bucks down to 4 bucks delivered to crusher in 86. Hard to show any cash flow that would impress a banker.Originally posted by newguy View Post

If you are having problems in the last 10 years you would have been one of the many farmers to bail and move to the city in the 80s.Originally posted by furrowtickler View Post
