Wheat Subsidies etc will Elon touch them

As you guys know in Australia its sink or swim have drought etc no top up income protection etc.

They just inflate value of land especially marginal.

Anyway wonder if some protection to Ag will be deemed something that could be trimmed and I have really no knowledge is it open to rorting?

Edit and all Elon Musk is doing is looking at potential save for Govt not actually doing anything he CANT make it happen, seems lots of bedwetters?

    Or am I wrong?

We feast or famine on their ag policy.
    Ag lobby holds power.

I know that a lot of US taxpayers are getting tired of supporting US farmers with government money.

I would imagine it is also being discussed in Canada.

With global infrastructure today the government aid to agriculture is not really needed for food security any more.

In Canada it seems that government programs are really being abused by mega large farms. I would hate to see all support programs leave, but there are some programs such as Agri Invest that only reward rich farms that do not need any help.

I think that most programs should be scaled back to offer support up to a certain amount and you are on your own after that.

Hard to justify the amount of taxpayers dollars that support taking the risk away from farming and the consequences that follow. Entitlement of taxpayers for access to your land and say in your farming practices is an increasing risk.

Congress just dumped $31 billion into the US ag sector last month. A lot of it was through per acre payments via the Ag Department.

Farm support usually ends up as food security and lower cost for consumers.looks like Trump and Musk has zero interest in the cost of living for the average American.Definately a slippery slope on how you subsidize .I have no faith that the true agriculture experts in the states are being consulted as Trump adds tariffs and Must cuts programs.

Americans will never touch farmers because they need good cheap food to make it all work.

Now some money might go more into fuel because big Trump donors own plants.

                  Wishful thinking but wont happen.

It’s farmers that got trump elected and he knows it so they are getting rewarded.
