Where they put the vents on a bin like that is too low and it won’t let the heat out. Neighbor has some with no vents, built with every crack sealed with silicone, and they like to keep the lids closed. Sure rots a lot of grain those bins. Open the lids for weeks.

I have been known to hang two or three spouts on the unload auger and/or keep the swing auger winched up high to eliminate the truck in the middle.Originally posted by biglentil View PostTransferring canola today, gotta love when this works out. An 8ft spout and wouldnt even need to park the truck there.
Works really well until something goes wrong and there's no surge capacity in the middle...Last edited by AlbertaFarmer5; Oct 2, 2024, 16:44.

Other thing to consider is an exhaust fan on the top opening. 1/2 or 3/4hp is plenty to keep air moving when trying to cool.

Neighbor here had westeel engineer the required bracing, then installed a 10hp fan on the top of a 35Kbu bin. If its below freezing outside he can make it snow...
