    Perks or responsibility?

    From Weber Commodities:
    (Russia)

Export of ****seed oil increased the most – by 58%. In 2023, the country shipped about 1.55 mln tonnes, including more than 1.4 mln tonnes were sent to China.

This is in response to Russia and Canola oil to China. Given they already have our pea and flax market to China, we must be aware that Russian competitiveness impacts demand from Canada; therefore we should be concerned when we fail to increase trade:

1/ Cancel the trade deal with the UK and blame hormones. No one ever asks me about hormones in my beef or segregates hormone-free carcasses’.

2/ Fine for dairy; they are cost-plus protected in perpetuity.

3/ Ag associations should, at the very least, launch a comprehensive study on the cost of food and the impact of the carbon tax on our global competitiveness today and as it increases.

The mindset that refuses to invest in calculating the impact of the relentless carbon tax on food and the global competitiveness factor of our industry will likely not realize that a dying beef industry also affects the demand side of the equation called feed

Who stands up for farmers anymore?

Do Representatives prefer perks to responsibility?
