    Thomas Jefferson Quotes

The following are some great Thomas Jefferson Quotes,

They all aptly apply to the CWB, and the debate surrounding it.

    Read and enjoy

A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine.

Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law,' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.

It is error alone which needs the support of government. Truth can stand by itself.

An honest man can feel no pleasure in the exercise of power over his fellow citizens.

Were we directed from Washington when to sow and when to reap, we should soon want bread.

Agriculture, manufacturers, commerce, and navigation, the four pillars of our prosperity, are then most thriving when left most free to individual enterprise.

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.

To compel a man to furnish funds for the propagation of ideas he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.

These might be more suitable for your post:

You Might Be a Redneck If...

    * You've ever hauled a can of paint to the top of a water tower to defend your sister's honor.

    * Your family tree does not fork.

    * You go to the family reunion to meet women.

    * You think "fast food" is hitting a deer at 65 miles an hour.

    * You take your dog for a walk and you both use the tree at the corner.

    * You've ever worn a tube-top to a funeral home.

    * You've ever opened a beer during a eulogy. (Bill Engvall suggested this)

    * You've ever ridden an electric floor buffer.

    * You work without a shirt on... and so does your husband.

    * You own a Waffle House credit card.

    * You think a quarter horse is that ride in front of Kmart.

    * Your baby's first words were "Attention K-Mart shoppers."

    * You own a complete set of salad bowls, and they all say "Cool Whip" on the side.

    * Your daughter's Barbie Dream House has a clothesline in the front yard.

    * You've ever had your nipple bitten off by a beaver.

    * You've ever made change in the offering plate. (Jeff pauses for the audience reaction at this point, then says "Guilty".)

    * You've ever stared at a can of orange juice because it said "concentrate".

    * You've ever worn a dress that is strapless with a bra that isn't. (Larry raises his hand; Jeff goes "Think about that and try to sleep tonight.")

    * You're working television sits on top of your non-working television.

    * You keep a fly swatter in the front seat of the car so you can reach your kids in the back seat of the car!

Thats why Jefferson and the founding fathers insisted in forming a Republic...rule of law. Instead of a democracy...rule of mob.

The mob may deem you not worthy and vote to take away your watch (property) But in a republic the law rules, the watch is yours and no mob shall take it away!!

I like this quote, "Were we directed from Washington when to sow and when to reap, we should soon want bread."

Does this also then follow, Were we directed from Ottawa when, or if we can, recieve health care, we should soon want for health care!!

No wonder the ag industry is in shambles with no young people wanting to enter. The mindset that predominates within it can't see any difference between JEFFerson and JEFF Foxworthy!

Yesh! I am an optimist, but it’s hard to “Soar like an Eagle, when your flying with a bunch of turkey’s” Don Cherry

Adam Smith. Interesting to note you draw your inspiration from a long dead American President and Don Cherry! Kinda helps put your comments in perspective. Another famous Don Cherry quote "Only wussies and french guys wear visors". Need I say more?

Yes, the perspective is that he has more to back up his opinions and the way he treats people than just throwing out rhetoric, fear mongering, and anti american garbage.

                      Chuckchuck, let me reply by quoting another brilliant mind;

The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter.
                      Winston Churchill

More Churchill Quotes, some humourous some profound!

A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.
                      Winston Churchill

                      Difficulties mastered are opportunities won.
                      Winston Churchill

I have taken more out of alcohol than alcohol has taken out of me.
                      Winston Churchill

I may be drunk, Miss, but in the morning I will be sober and you will still be ugly.
                      Winston Churchill

If you have an important point to make, don't try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time-a tremendous whack.
                      Winston Churchill

It is a good thing for an uneducated man to read books of quotations.
                      Winston Churchill

Kites rise highest against the wind - not with it.
                      Winston Churchill

Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.
                      Winston Churchill

Some regard private enterprise as if it were a predatory tiger to be shot. Others look upon it as a cow that they can milk. Only a handful see it for what it really is - the strong horse that pulls the whole cart.
                      Winston Churchill

The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries.
                      Winston Churchill

The truth is incontrovertible, malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end; there it is.
                      Winston Churchill

There is nothing more exhilarating than to be shot at without result.
                      Winston Churchill

We occasionally stumble over the truth but most of us pick ourselves up and hurry off as if nothing had happened.
                      Winston Churchill

You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life.
