    Is CWB a Funding Agency?

Ever wondered why your pooling accounts are leaking money? :

"Her Excellency the Governor General.... on the recommendation of the ... The Canadian Wheat Board ...hereby deems the payment of a contribution by The Canadian Wheat Board from the separate account
.... of not more than $500,000... to fund the construction of the University of Alberta’s Agri‑Food Discovery Place....

    There's more .

By the way, that last post was gazetted on 2005-10-25.

Well, 2005 was a bad year, at least down our way, so, Vader, was cash taken from the pooling accounts for the following that was gazetted:

Her Excellency the Governor General in Council,..... on the recommendation of the President of the Treasury Board and The Canadian Wheat Board, pursuant to section 39 of the Canadian Wheat Board Act, hereby authorizes a contribution by The Canadian Wheat Board, from the separate account referred to in subsection 39(2) of that Act, in the amount of $165,000
to fund a Fusarium Head Blight Research Project for barley for a second year, on the condition that funds are available.

I thought the checkoff was for research?

Gazetting for initial funding for fusarium was done on 2004-05-05:

Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, deeming the purpose of the payment to be for the benefit of producers of wheat and other grains, on the recommendation of the President of the Treasury Board and The Canadian Wheat Board, pursuant to section 39 of the Canadian Wheat Board Act, hereby authorizes a contribution by The Canadian Wheat Board, from the separate account referred to in subsection 39(2) of that Act, the sum of $165,000 to fund a Fusarium Head Blight Research Project for barley, on the condition that sufficient funds from that account are available.

Don't we have a barley checkoff?

Remember when Chairman Ritter talk-showed around the provinces flamboozling that there are no licensing costs from the Ontario, and for heavens sakes, the Maritimes don't grow wheat?

Well, the gazetting on 1994-11-29 shows the CWB is partners with NS!:

Approval of the entry into an agreement with the NOVA SCOTIA GRAIN MARKETING BOARD, which provides for the implementation of a cooperative marketing plan for WHEAT produced in the Province of NOVA SCOTIA during 1994.

But they don't grow or license, right?
