    CWB hiring as profits at record levels

    Incognito;

    Wheat and Barley prices are really profitable for the Government of Canada this year as the CWB ramps up hiring staff to tell everyone the success story at the CWB.

    Take a look at this one!

    Government Relations Consultant
    Winnipeg, Manitoba
    Competition Number 05-39A

    The Canadian Wheat Board (CWB) is a large international grain marketing organization located in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Our Government Relations area plays a key strategic role within the operations of the CWB. As a result of a vacancy, we have an exciting opportunity for a Government Relations Consultant to be located in the Winnipeg office.

    The job

    As a member of the government relations business unit, you will participate in the development and implementation of government relations strategic and tactical plans to support and advance long term corporate objectives as well as specific objectives related to other CWB business units. The Government Relations Consultant, working with the Senior Advisor of Government Relations and the Ottawa based staff will ensure that the CWB has a visible presence in western Canada by establishing, enhancing and maintaining key stakeholder relationships. Key stakeholders include provincial and federal government officials, elected Members of provincial legislators and their political staff, and grain industry associations and farm organizations. This position will also assist the CWB board of directors and senior management in forging relationships and influencing policy at the federal and provincial levels.

    Obviously the only Shareholder of the CWB, the Government of Canada must have grain farmers pay, and pay, and pay.

    For;

    Jobs, Jobs, Jobs. Liberal Jobs at that.

    Exciting?? What would make this such an exciting opportunity? (Other than all the obvious perks that come from being part of the Liberal party)

      Maybe you should apply for this position ,Tom, after all it is a competition not an appointment. You seem to be able to relate to government well. Maybe you could convince the american government to remove the wheat tarriff and the european governments to stop subsidizing exports?

        Agstar77;

        When we finally have marketing choice and freedom to market, I will work to solve these problems wholeheartedly. As it stands today we are guilty as charged and have no defence.

        Two wrongs do not make a right.

        The export subsidy coming out of the CWB pool accounts is of no benefit to any grain farmer in Canada or internationally selling in competition with the western Canadian grain farmer.

        The only way to assure a fair price is to allow buyers an opportunity to pay more to the specific farmers who will provide special produce... without pooling and buyback charges... a free export license as is granted to Ontario or BC grain farmers.

        Then we will have a defence and opportunity to create value!
