I farm between Humboldt and Melfort. 1 1/2 inches here last night. forcast was for 1/4 inch. Here too standing barley is sprouted. 4 inches now in August. Our "record" harvest is becoming very average very quickly.

Another 1.7" last night with strong winds. Standing crops leaning and twisted. Any barley in swaths will turn green in a few days. Combined standing barley yesterday, dry. Lots of sprouts, 72 bu/ac and 46 lbs. Looked like straw for 100. The heat in July ruined the yield and now the quality is gone. If this sprouts the wheat 2005 will be as bad as 2004.

We farm southeast of Moosomin. We had 2" of rain yesterday and heavy winds. Have not had trouble with sprouting grain yet and may be ok if it drys up quickly. Area west of us at Montmartre had 5" and canola swaths are floating in the low spots!
