    Wheat grading

Took some samples for moisture to elevator yesterday around noon
They flat out said all hrsw will be graded a two or less now. Definitely a colour change in ours . Will be watching price spread close now next 10 days .
I guess we will see who needs wheat and who does not , probably dictate grade as much as anything. End of the day the grade may be meaningless, if you get the price you want , does not really matter what they call it I guess .
Got rolling yesterday afternoon on some stuff that missed the late day rain Thursday night .
    Started at 17 , hit 14.5 around 7 pm
Hopefully a long next few days to get wheat off
If you’re able to harvest , stay safe . Long days ahead .
Environmental Can shows sun and warm next 5 days
Weather Network shows showers every evening after a few days .
Take er day by day , and quit lookin probably best

Was kinda taken back at the smugness of the elevator buyer , but just smiled and said thanks and walked out . Harvest will be done and grain will go east or west to those who will buy , not take the grain and they will be looking at an empty driveway like last year , their choice

Why, do you have JD combines?

Still holding a 1 easily here. Some bleaching but no downgrading factors.

When it gets less rain than desert durum does in Arizona its going to hold its colour.

Will tell today how wheat looks , grading and pricing will be interesting this next month.
A few done , some close to done , a few have not started wheat yet .
Standing Canola was still 13.4 yesterday afternoon .

Some areas east of here had more rain this past 5 days than all of summer .

Sounds like might be lots of blending opportunities and your buyers will be able to help out with blending for grade improvement, might take a little shopping around and a bit more trucking.

Yes we fortunate , in a way , to have over 1/2 the wheat off in very good shape . Lots of very dry wheat from the last 3 days before rains . About 1/3 of it bleached somewhat
Will definitely be shopping around , locals don’t seem too aggressive at all . So far Cargil been the best spot pricing I heard
Patience will be key I guess .
Huge crop just west and north mostly still in field but quality will be a concern now .
Wheat from here to the SE is mostly off , lower yields as you go east but quality quite good on most of it .
Bushel weights so far are high on what’s been taken off , 65-68 lbs / bushel. So that a bit of a nice surprise given hot dry conditions most times

Starting to see some frost pop up in later stuff. Nothing major but it’s there.

Frost or heat stress there were a couple very hot days last couple weeks. Looks the same and has same effects on end use. As long as no green frost is showing up. THX for the heads up.

I would say frost. We had frost here the 19/20th so low spots would be hit. Doesn’t seem wide spread enough to have been heat. If the crop was going to show heat stress, I would think it would be a LOT more grain showing it 😂
